{"id":446,"date":"2014-12-01T15:20:26","date_gmt":"2014-12-01T23:20:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/historeplay.com\/?page_id=446"},"modified":"2015-04-01T16:53:19","modified_gmt":"2015-04-01T23:53:19","slug":"preferred","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/historeplay.com\/?page_id=446","title":{"rendered":"Preferred Worker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If I had the opportunity to hire someone for the job I would prefer hiring someone who speaks Spanish.\u00a0 This is fine if you want to alienate the rest of the English only speaking part of society.\u00a0 If I were to say that I prefer hiring someone that only speaks Creole English language, then perhaps that would be okay too, since requesting a Spanish speaking person is acceptable by both private and public business organizations.<\/p>\n<p>More and more job descriptions are being circulated without\u00a0unlawful \u00a0obstruction. \u00a0The\u00a0requests are routinely placing within the qualifications&#8217; section that the candidate speak Spanish or be able to speak English and Spanish, without any outward need that the job have a bona fide occupational requirement to perform the described duties.<\/p>\n<p>The ad depicted below was received today (12-1-14) from a California Employment Development Department representative, who is Hispanic.\u00a0 If stacking\u00a0the job candidate pool is okay for the public agencies, it is only natural that private businesses would be able to build their operation with the gender and race that they so desire.\u00a0 Equal Employment Opportunity is a bias remedy that apparently has been discarded as obsolete.\u00a0 We have obviously reached parity and the balance of hiring specific races is needed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/historeplay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/autobody-tech.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-447 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/historeplay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/autobody-tech-300x295.jpg\" alt=\"autobody tech\" width=\"300\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/historeplay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/autobody-tech-300x295.jpg 300w, https:\/\/historeplay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/autobody-tech.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The sarcasm is plain, but the bias hiring issue is rampant in the Los Angeles region. \u00a0It is being thrown around for nearly every blue collar job.\u00a0 I am not sure if I am more upset that Latinos are getting a huge break over black people, or if I am more upset about how Latinos are being used to take on jobs that apparently nobody else wants to do.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, The 2010 United States Census\u00a0reported that Hawthorne had a population of 84,293.\u00a0 The racial makeup of Hawthorne was 27,678 (32.8%) White (10.3% Non-Hispanic White), 23,385 (27.7%) African American, 565 (0.7%) Native American, 5,642 (6.7%) Asian, 974 (1.2%) Pacific Islander, 22,127 (26.3%) from other races, and 3,922 (4.7%) from two or more races.
